Classification: Certified Exempt - Full-Time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
Contract Period: 185 working days.
Competitive Salary Range!
*$54,000 to $82,320 (Based on education and years of relevant experience) *The annual salary listed above is based on a full-time, 8-hour workday (FTE 1) and a full working calendar. Position Overview
Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, school counselors promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students.
Primary Duties
Designs and delivers comprehensive counseling services and instruction aligned with the school curriculum, addressing student needs across content areas. Develops strong rapport with students to identify challenges and barriers that affect their academic and personal success.
Leads and supports the integration of positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) across the school, facilitating one-on-one sessions, small group activities, and whole-class support.
Responds to student mental health crises by providing educational resources, prevention strategies, and short-term counseling. Refers students to appropriate community resources when necessary.
Adheres to all legal and professional requirements, ensuring compliance with educational law, district policies, and procedures. This includes but is not limited to managing 504 plans, RtI, MTSS, concurrent enrollment, and graduation requirements.
Fosters meaningful relationships by prioritizing interventions that ensure every student is supported by a caring, positive adult figure.
Ensures staff are trained on mandatory reporting procedures and works collaboratively with social services during student and family investigations. May be called upon to testify in court regarding school-related matters.
Integrates evidence-based counseling practices and research into school programs to improve student outcomes.
Utilizes knowledge of local resources and community services to assist students. Adapts services based on an understanding of students' home environments, communities, and school context.
Assesses school culture and climate to implement programs that create a welcoming, respectful, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students.
Develops and implements programs that honor and celebrate diversity within the school, community, and broader global context, considering cultural, demographic, and socio-economic factors.
Facilitates effective communication between families, significant adults, and school staff to ensure coordination and support for student success.
Plans and delivers services based on comprehensive data analysis, considering multiple sources of information related to student abilities, interests, skills, and academic performance.
Coordinate interventions for chronic absenteeism and tardiness through responsive services, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to support student attendance and engagement.
Collaborates with school leadership (principal, assistant principal, and family liaison) to assess and address student and family needs, ensuring a coordinated and holistic response.
Participates in behavior management and discipline processes, contributing to the development of behavior plans, tracking behavior patterns, and documenting discipline referrals.
Performs additional duties as assigned, adapting to the evolving needs of the school community.
Necessary Credentials
A minimum of one year of experience in the counseling or mental health field is preferred.
Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution in School Counseling or a related field of study.
MUST have an active Colorado Special Services License in School Counselor [or similar] or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. If additional coursework or a preparation program is required, the applicant must provide proof of enrollment and submission of the required documentation to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) within 30 days of employment.
Official transcripts must be provided upon hire. For international transcripts, an evaluation is required through a member organization of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
Visa Candidates are required to hold at minimum an Initial (3-year) License.

Individual and Group Counseling Techniques: Proficient in counseling and advising techniques for both individuals and groups, fostering personal growth, emotional resilience, and academic success.
Knowledge of School, District, and Community Resources: In-depth knowledge of available school, district, and community resources, ensuring students and families have access to the support they need.
Public Speaking and Presentation Skills: Effective communication through public speaking and presentation techniques, engaging diverse audiences to share critical information and support school initiatives.
Understanding of Relevant Laws and Regulations: Strong knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to education, student rights, and counseling practices.
English Language Proficiency: Exceptional proficiency in English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition, ensuring clear and professional communication.
Modern Office Procedures and Technology: Familiarity with modern office procedures, methods, and technologies, enhancing efficiency in administrative tasks and communication.
Business and Report Writing: Knowledgeable in the principles of business correspondence, letter writing, and basic report preparation, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders.

Physical Requirements
May include standing and walking for extended periods; bending, stooping, and lifting materials; reaching for supplies on high shelves; using manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicating clearly and effectively with students; and climbing stairs in multi-level buildings.
