SUMMARY:
Record student attendance and distribute information to teachers, administrators, and parents. Provide clerical support to the building as needed. Administer first aid and medical care for injured or ill students and staff, provide physician-ordered care or procedures, conduct screening programs, and assure compliance with state health and immunization laws. Maintain health records, health action plans, and billing for Medicaid reimbursable procedures.

INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Training as one of the following desired: LPN, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, or Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• English language skills; multilingual skills preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required.
• Participate in professional growth opportunities.
• Personal computer and keyboarding skills.
PRODUCTIVE CITIZEN:
• Administer minor and major first aid to ill or injured students/staff. Duties include determining the severity of illness/injury, calling 911 if necessary, monitoring chronically ill students, monitoring the exposure of others to diseases and contagious illnesses, properly disposing of body fluids, and performing technical procedures as necessary.
• Compile, print, and distribute attendance information; may assist in preparing specific reports for analysis of attendance data.
• Communicate with District RN(s) and school staff to implement student health care plans.
• Notify building administrator, teachers, transportation, and kitchen staff of students with significant health concerns. Attend staffing/child study meetings as needed. Research as needed regarding medications and conditions. Report suspected abuse or neglect to the Administrator and the proper authorities.
• Assist visitors, answer inquiries, provide information, and direct to appropriate school areas.
• Criminal background check required for hire.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence.
• Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and building and department procedures.

AGENCY:
• Contact parents/caregivers of ill or injured children, document all head injuries, file necessary accident reports in accordance with established health office procedures, and prepare students to go home if necessary. Compile and submit student injury reports to the District Nurse and appropriate administrative personnel. Serve as workers’ compensation representative to assess and assist injured personnel with treatment options.
• Organize, schedule, and implement health screening programs to include: vision, hearing, dental, etc. Record, track results, and make recommendations for follow-up care for students who did not pass initial testing.
• Communicate with parents and school personnel regarding student absences.
• Assist in preparing required state and special program attendance reports.
• Input and maintain up-to-date records, student lists, and filing systems as they pertain to student attendance.
• Interpersonal relations, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities with frequent interruptions.
PERSONAL WELLNESS:
• Collect and maintain health information on students to include: computer data entry, cumulative records, patient charts, immunization law compliance, exclusion/suspension, and completion of district and state reports. Prepare and maintain student health files, including all health records, documents, and reports. This includes documents to inform teachers/specialists of children with special health needs. Complete staffing health information forms on Special Education staffing.
• Administer medications and other medical treatments required by students in accordance with physician orders and district and state policy; record into daily medication logs. Notify parents/caregivers when medications are running low and ensure paperwork is properly maintained in the file for students receiving medications.
• Assist in the control of nuisance diseases per the instructions of the District Nurse and the state health 2 department. Report infectious diseases to the District Nurse and the state health department as per CDPHE guidelines.
• Diffuse conflicts and/or difficult situations as needed in the school office.
• Monitor building visitors, visitor sign-in procedures, student sign-in and sign-out procedures, and building activities, including crisis situations such as building evacuations, lockdowns, emergency situations, and safety procedures.
• May initiate crisis procedures in the administrator’s absence with direction from appropriate officials.
• Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law.
• Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
