K-12 Physical Education Teaching Position

Job Description:
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for developing students’ physical abilities, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong fitness habits. The teacher plans and delivers engaging physical education lessons aligned with curriculum standards while ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Duties/ Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver developmentally and age-appropriate physical education lessons in accordance with school curriculum and educational standards
Teach fundamental motor skills, fitness concepts, sports rules, and techniques
Promote physical fitness, health awareness, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship
Assess and evaluate student performance, participation, and progress
Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, including those with special needs
Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing safety rules and proper use of equipment
Organize and supervise indoor and outdoor physical activities, games, and sports
Manage and maintain physical education equipment and facilities
Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to support student development
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress
Participate in school events, professional development, meetings, and extracurricular activities as required
Indoor gymnasiums and outdoor fields in varying weather conditions
May require standing, walking, running, and demonstrating physical activities
Active work environment requiring physical stamina
Adhere to school policies
Additional duties as determined by the administration
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Education, Sport Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
Certified teacher license or ability to be licensed in Colorado
Strong organizational skills
Communicate effectively with staff, administration, and stakeholders in the community
Strong classroom and behavior management skills
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience as a PE teacher
Desire to work in a rural setting
Willingness to be involved in the whole school community
Knowledge of physical education curriculum standards and best practices
Previous teaching or coaching experience preferred
