Job Description: Monte Vista School District is accepting applications for an energetic, enthusiastic, talented and compassionate Counselor for the 2026-26 school year, to provide services to students at Marsh Elementary School. Marsh Elementary educates students in PK, Kdg, and 1st Grade.

Responsibilities include: 
• Crisis intervention with at-risk students
• Meeting with individual students and small groups
• Active participation in RtI and PBIS initiatives
• Serving as a community agency liaison
• Working with other mental health professionals
• Serving on District Counseling Team

Desired skills/traits include:
• CDE Counselor Certification 
• Experience with children in early childhood
• Training/experience in supporting challenging behaviors in young children
• Experience with lesson planning and delivery in large group setting
• Classroom management skills
• Experience with SWIS (School Wide Information System) behavior documentation
• Ability and proven success in forming positive relationships with young students is paramount
• The ability to accomplish both routine and long-term tasks/projects in an environment where immediate needs and priorities can shift unexpectedly
• Collaborative approach to problem solving
• Ability to work well with others
• Self-motivated
• Organized, yet flexible

The District operates on a 4-day week (Monday – Thursday) and offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package including employee health, dental, vision, HSA match, and life coverage. The salary for this position will be paid from the current MVSD Certified Salary Schedule, which can be viewed on the district website – Employment Opportunities page. Placement on the salary schedule will be determined by education and experience at time of hire.
