Job Description: Monte Vista School District is accepting applications for a Counselor for the 2026-27 school year. An energetic, enthusiastic, talented and compassionate counselor is being sought to provide services to students at Monte Vista High School.
Responsibilities include:
• Crisis intervention with at-risk students
• Meeting with individual students and small groups
• Active participation in RtI and PBIS initiatives
• Facilitating the ICAP process for students
• Involvement with student schedules and class enrollment
• Coordinating Concurrent Enrollment with local institutions of higher education
• Serving as a community agency liaison
• Working with other mental health professionals
• Serving on District Counseling Team

Desired qualifications/skills/traits include:
• CDE Counselor Certification
• The ability to establish a good working rapport with students
• The ability to accomplish both routine and long-term tasks/projects in an environment where immediate needs and priorities can shift unexpectedly
• Collaborative approach to problem solving
• Ability to work well with others
• Self-motivated
• Organized, yet flexible
• Ability and proven success in forming positive relationships with youth
• Experience in mental health counseling is desirable

The District operates on a 4-day week (Monday – Thursday) and offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package including employee health, dental, vision, HSA match, and life coverage. The salary for this position will be paid from the current MVSD Certified Salary Schedule, which can be viewed on the district website – Employment Opportunities page. Placement on the salary schedule will be determined by education and experience at time of hire.
