Archuleta School District

REQUIREMENTS: 
Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree required.
Experience in a leadership role, including managing and evaluating employees, is required.
Project management experience required.
Safety management experience required.
Experience with managing budgets and capital projects is required
Experience with facilities master planning and school construction preferred.
Strong verbal and written communications.
Strong motivation and facilitation skills.
Knowledge in transportation coordination, bus safety, etc., preferred.
Knowledge and ability to operate a computer and various operating systems, including Google systems.
Knowledge in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, other construction areas, and HVAC preferred.
Knowledge in operating machinery (e.g., skid steer, tractor, lawn mower, etc.) preferred.
Complete the required Title IX training before starting work (the district will provide the training).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work requires physical activity requiring workers to walk, stand, climb ladders, or sit for long periods; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb stairs; bend; reach; hold, grasp, and turn objects; and use fingers to operate the computer and other office equipment. 

REPORTS TO:
Superintendent

JOB GOAL:
To maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. Manage the district's safety needs for all campuses. 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruits, screens, and recommends for hire all employees in the maintenance/ custodial department.
Provides training, supervises, and evaluates all maintenance/custodial personnel, and makes recommendations for their continued employment.
Prepares and administers the maintenance/custodial budget.
Authorizes purchases in accordance with budgetary limitations and district rules.
Approves and forwards maintenance service invoices to the business office.
Coordinates yearly inspections of facilities and equipment.
Maintains the Building Management System for facilities.
Approves and submits timesheets to the payroll office weekly.
Follows district policies and procedures.

Supervises and evaluates transportation director, maintenance, grounds, custodian, and warehouse employees
All other duties as assigned.

Transportation/Maintenance/Custodial:
Examine district buildings regularly for needed repairs and maintenance.
Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
Estimates the cost of repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
Assigns and supervises crews for maintenance work such as replacing worn or defective wiring, switches, faucets, and plumbing fixtures, and repairing fences, asphalt, concrete, and ceilings.
Project management: Lays out, oversees, and inspects the work of crew members.
Develops a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.
Prepares reports on the cost of work done, materials used, and labor expended.
Orders materials as needed, and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
Assigns work orders, checks drawings and plans.
Consults with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventative maintenance programs.
Advises on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
Consults with the Finance Director in developing service agreements
Supervises grounds crew and snow removal. 
Work with the crew to prepare athletic fields and gyms
Works with the Town of Pagosa Springs in coordination with facility usage and parks usage.
On call for emergencies at district sites. 
Updates Emergency operations procedures. Trains staff as needed in emergencies. 
Supports the transportation director with route coordination, drivers, mechanics, and student discipline. 
Supervises and evaluates transportation director, maintenance, grounds, custodian, and warehouse employees
Shared supervision of the administrative assistant

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary: As set by the Board of Education through the annual salary schedule for the Chief Operations Officer. Up to nine years’ experience allowed.
Work Schedule: Twelve-month year, 250 days. 
Benefits: Full benefit package as described on the salary schedule
Hours: Set by the Superintendent
