Position Title: HS Math & Science Teacher

Direct Supervisor: Building Principal

Contracted Length Term: Aug - May position (163 days)

Salary: A competitive salary commensurate with education and experience: Salary starts at: $43,822 - $83,494 DOE

SUMMARY OF POSITION

HS MATH/SCIENCE Teacher–that can instruct students in the following subject areas:

MATH – Algebra/Geo1 and Algebra/Geo 2.

SCIENCE – Earth Science and possible elective Science.

Under the direction and supervision of the Principal or designee, the candidate will plan instruction, teach, differentiate instruction, motivate, inspire and assess students in mathematics and science. The candidate will promote a high quality, personalized education program that reflects the Colorado State Content Standards for Mathematics and Science

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of basic concepts of child growth and development, and developmental behavior characteristics; Student behavior management strategies and techniques;

Demonstrates a working knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used to teach mathematics and science instruction for grades 9-12

Develops and presents lessons that demonstrate planning and preparation and are consistent with the district course of study and the Colorado Content Standards for Mathematics and Science

Uses a variety of instructional techniques and materials, which are appropriate to meet the needs of all students and understands the value of differentiating instruction

Organizes classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning

Assesses students’ mathematical skills for the purposes of refining classroom activities and providing feedback to students, parents and administrations regarding students’ progress, expectations and goals

Performs other related duties as required and assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Currently hold or are able to obtain a Colorado teacher’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.

Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

This type of work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve moving quickly, being stationary for brief periods.

Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far visual acuity, depth perception providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

Student Days are Monday-Thursday, and staff work 1-2 Fridays for month for professional development, conferences and prep days.
