The Wiggins School District, located in the heart of Colorado’s northern plains, is seeking a visionary and community-minded Superintendent. The Board of Education invites highly qualified candidates to apply for this leadership role, with the successful candidate assuming responsibilities on July 1, 2026.

The Community
Known as the “Gateway to the Plains and the Rockies,” Wiggins is a thriving, growing community located 65 miles northeast of Denver along the I-76 corridor. The district serves as the "hub" of the community, where the school system is the largest employer and the primary gathering place for residents.
The local economy is rooted in a proud tradition of agriculture and ranching, complemented by a growing residential sector and a burgeoning business district. Residents enjoy a high quality of life with access to outdoor recreation at nearby Jackson Lake State Park and Empire Reservoir, known for premier boating, fishing, and waterfowl hunting. Wiggins maintains a small-town atmosphere where leadership, excellence, and shared ownership are core cultural tenets.

Qualifications
Relational Leadership & Community Engagement: A highly visible leader who prioritizes building authentic, trust based relationships with students, staff, and parents. This candidate must be adept at fostering a collaborative "smalltown" atmosphere where open communication and a shared vision for excellence are at the forefront of every decision.
Growth Management: Proven ability to lead a growing district (averaging 35+ new students since 2017) and oversee long-term facility master planning, including new construction and modernization.
Instructional Excellence: A student-focused leader with a track record of improving academic outcomes and supporting diverse learning needs, including a growing population of multilingual learners.
Program Leadership: Drive the development and enhancement of innovative programs, including Vocational/CTE (Career and Technical Education), STEM, and agricultural sciences, to ensure students are college and career-ready.
Staff Investment: Prioritize the recruitment, professional development, and retention of high-quality educators and support staff to maintain instructional stability.
Community Presence: A visible leader who understands the unique dynamics of a rural "hub" community and can build strong partnerships with parents, local businesses, and agricultural stakeholders.
Ethical Leadership: A person of high integrity who fosters a safe, secure, and collaborative environment for all staff and students.
Fiscal Responsibility: Experience in managing a complex budget, maximizing local and state resources to meet the district's evolving needs.
Additional Requirements
Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field (required).
Colorado Principal and or Superintendent License (or eligibility to obtain).
Building-level leadership experience (Minimum of 3 years Principal experience required).
Residency within the school district boundaries (preferred).
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $140,000 – $175,000 (commensurate with experience and based on regional averages)
