Head of School
Animas High School
Animas High School (AHS) in Durango, Colorado, is searching for its next Head of School. I can’t wait to tell you about this beautiful place, this special role, and the open, sincere members of its community, by whom I was so warmly welcomed during my recent visit.
Located on the campus of Fort Lewis College, AHS is a small, relationship-focused, project-based learning community where students are known, their voices are uplifted, and they lead their own learning supported by trusted adults. At AHS, the professionalism, expertise, and imagination of educators are respected, fostering a shared learning culture that encourages collaboration, reflection, and ongoing growth.
It’s in this context that we are seeking a thoughtful, steady, and community-rooted Head of School who will bring heart and strong organizational leadership to our next chapter.
Are you or is someone you know:
A trust-builder who prioritizes relationships?
An educator who believes in project-based learning and student-centered education?
An administrator whose expertise in leading teams, strengthening systems and processes, supporting continuous improvement, and shepherding positive change has improved student outcomes and elevated the reputation of schools?
Please reach out if you have personal interest or ideas about others who would crush this role. And spread the word widely (repost!) about this unique opportunity.
The full position description is attached. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
For best consideration, please apply before January 4, 2026.
