Secondary Math Teacher (6-12)



Overview: La Veta Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Math Teacher to join our team and inspire students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mathematics, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.



Responsibilities:



Curriculum Development: Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum framework.

Classroom Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive math instruction to students in grades 6-12, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles.

Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student learning through regular formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.

Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying levels of mathematical proficiency, including gifted learners and those requiring additional support.

Classroom Management:Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, with clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.

Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic goals, and any concerns or issues that may arise.

Extracurricular Involvement:Participate in extracurricular activities, such as math clubs, competitions, or tutoring sessions, to enrich the mathematical experience for students outside of the classroom.

Professional Growth: Stay current with developments in the field of mathematics education, continually seeking opportunities for professional growth and improvement.



Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Master degree preferred).

Valid teaching license in Colorado or certification in secondary mathematics.

Demonstrated expertise in teaching mathematics at the secondary level, with a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and pedagogy.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Experience integrating technology into instruction to enhance learning outcomes.

Commitment to equity and inclusion, with the ability to create a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment for all students.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage time and resources to meet instructional goals.
