Purpose of the Position: The Preschool Director at Platte Valley Early Learning will be charged with working directly with the Superintendent of schools to assist in driving the pursuit of “Excellence for All: For Every Student, Every Day”. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organization and management of the Platte Valley Early Learning Center by creating a positive culture, learning, and working environment for students, staff, and families.

Focus of the Position: The Preschool Director will work with the Superintendent to focus on providing a high-quality learning environment for students enrolled in the Platte Valley Early Learning Center. The Preschool Director will work to ensure students receive research based instructional practices along with aligned curriculum and services with Platte Valley Elementary School. The Preschool Director will work in conjunction with the CDEC and Weld County United Way LCO in all areas of Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program, while also ensuring management of the Early Learning Center’s private pay program to supplement student, community, and district needs.

Salary: Salary is dependent on the employee’s education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee. Salary will be in the range of $75,000 - $90,000 depending on education and experience.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required:

• Must hold or be able to hold within time of hire a Large Center Director’s Certificate from the State of Colorado.

• Hold at minimum an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, plus 1820 hours of verified working experience or a BA/MA with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Early Childhood Special Education plus 1820 hours of verified working experience.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with the state’s new Universal Preschool Program rules and regulations.

• Familiarity with school-based provider preschool programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective:

Provide educational services to students ages 3 and the year before kindergarten, both inside the Colorado Universal Preschool Program in addition to students attending through the center’s private pay program. Duties will include an ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies, coordinate with the Child-Find process, and work with students in Early Childhood Special Education.

Essential Functions and Characteristics:

• Lead development and supervision of all the Platte Valley Early Learning center programs.

• Be able to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop common assessments, analyze a variety of student data and work samples and to align curriculum with Platte Valley Elementary.

• Work collaboratively with Centennial BOCES for special education and Child Find Services.

• Employ positive reinforcement and disciplinary techniques consistent with PBIS in order to create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.

• Be able to create a positive learning atmosphere for a diverse and inclusive student population.

• Establish and implement the learning process toward the achievement of district standards and in congruence with those standards, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects.

• Assess the performance of students, plan for and adjust instruction and curriculum as necessary on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

• Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative procedures.

• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

• Works directly with Advisory Board, parents, community members, and staff for the benefit of the Center in order to create and maintain a positive image for The Early Learning Center.

• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as appropriate to the individual school site or district.

• Team player willing and able to be involved in the programmatic, co-curricular, and/or extra-curricular programs available in the school district.

• Establish and maintain an effective partnership with building principals and district leadership.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
