Elementary Music Teacher

Monte Vista School District is seeking applications for a knowledgeable, energetic, creative, and collaborative Music Teacher at Bill Metz Elementary. Bill Metz Elementary has a fully equipped music room that includes a full classroom set of tubano drums and hand drums, a plethora of hand percussion, as well as a full classroom set of Orff instruments including glockenspiels, xylophones, metallophones, basses, and an octave of contrabass bars. 

Required skills for candidates include: 
● Current Colorado Teaching License
● Collaborative approach to problem solving, planning, data analysis, etc.
● Ability to work well with others
● Self-motivated
● Organized yet flexible
● Knowledge of music standards
● Ability to differentiate for a wide variety of student achievement levels
● Accompanying skills on piano and/or guitar
● Knowledge of teaching recorder, percussion, movement, and voice. 

Preferred skills for candidates would include: 
● Orff, Kodaly, and/or Dalcroze training/experience
● Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

Responsibilities and duties for this position include working with a large student body, music programs for grades 2nd through 5th, collaborating with specials team on scheduling and special programing, and collaborating with staff to incorporate Math, ELA, and Depth and Complexity elements into lessons. 

The District operates on a 4-day week (Monday – Thursday) and offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefit package including employee health, dental, vision, HSA match, and life coverage. The salary for this position will be paid from the current MVSD Teacher Salary Schedule, which can be viewed on the district website – Employment Opportunities page. Placement on the salary schedule will be determined by education and experience at time of hire.
