Early Childhood Teacher Lead

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Early Childhood Program Director, the Lead Teacher provides a

developmentally appropriate preschool program in an inclusive classroom serving 3, 4, and 5-year old’s

that may have a disability, may be typically developing or may be at risk for delays in learning and

development.

skills in organization and problem solving; ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for

improvement; and ability to act as a representative of Kiowa Schools.

Primary Responsibility

Early Childhood Teacher Lead is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the

curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Lead teachers must

understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and

stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.

Collaborate with team members including early childhood teachers and assistants as well as special

education related service providers to plan appropriate learning experiences and to carry out ongoing

child assessment in accordance with district and state requirements.

Essential Functions

 Prepare lesson plans and crafts for daily activities

 Prepare room for daily operation

 Set up Class Dojo for communication with parents

 Create a daily schedule

 Set up room to meet licensing requirements

 Prepare daily Sign-in sheets

 Conduct assessments 2 times a year

 Conduct Parent/Teacher Conferences

 Conduct daily cleaning routines to meet licensing requirements

 Engage with students and provide a safe and fun learning environment

 Provide daily lunch count to cafeteria

 Serve lunch and keep snacks stocked

 Create a positive classroom environment and class management tools.

 Take required yearly training per licensing

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director

Equipment

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and

telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required

Fringe Benefits (Reference School Board policy GCBD/GDBD)

 Eight (8) Discretionary Days renewing annually July 1.

 Discretionary not used by June 30th will be moved to sick bank days up to a total of 40 days.

Once 40 days have been accumulated additional days will be paid out in August at a rate of half

the daily rate of a certified substitute.

 One (1) weeks paid vacation will be granted after one year of service.

 Two (2) weeks paid vacation will be granted after two years of service.

 Vacation may be accumulated up to 16 days, any days not used over 16 days will not be paid out

or banked.

 Eligible for School District’s benefits plans.

Salary Range: $18.81 - $20.07 / hour
